BodyRock's Lisa-Marie by FoxxFireArt
BodyRock's Lisa-Marie
This is an illustration of Lisa-Marie, who is the primary host of the fitness website BodyRock.Tv. I've been following her workout programs on their You Tube channel for two years straight since October. Every single week at a minimum of five times a week for all that time. It's been one of the most effective programs I've ever done. I'm in better shape now than when I played football in high school. I wanted to draw this piece as a show of appreciation.

Although, watching her and those sexy abs with that accent makes it very easy to keep coming back week after week. I also adore all her tattoos, and she has many more that wouldn't show in this pose. They did create a bit of a challenge for me. I had to do so much searching to find good reference images. Thankfully, she takes tons of selfies and promo pictures she posts on her Tumblr. If you appreciate women with tone, I highly recommend it. thedailyhiit-lisamarie.tumblr.… The only problem was that some were from a mirror, so I had to use her abdominal tattoo for placement reference. If you're wondering, the tattoo along her collar bone says, "Never a failure Always a lesson". She's a great example that strong is sexy, also super engaging on her Facebook page.

This is the first picture I've colored and finished since I got Manga Studio 5 EX. It was a lot of fun to use all it's brushes, and it felt far easier to actually blend the colors the way I wanted. Far easier than using Photoshop CS3 -- which I had used to draw this image, and I know I'm going to enjoy finally having a a free rotate function. I went with a grey scale for a more artistic approach, but gave it a slight blue tint. I look forward to making a lot more art with this software.

I hope you enjoy it and comments are always welcome.

Kill la Kill - Satsuki Kiryuin by FoxxFireArt
Kill la Kill - Satsuki Kiryuin

This is based on a scene from the second opening of Kill la Kill.  I've wanted to make this version with Satsuki looking to the audience with her signature intense glare. I used a screenshot of that scene and used it just as a general guide for the design sketch.

This picture of Satsuki took far longer than it should have. I struggled to figure out a way to make that crowd in the back in all sorts of ways. None worked out as well as just drawing them all.

It's a funny thing about my Patreon page. I find myself being sure I go over certain details with a fine eye before posting. I'm guessing that's a good thing.

Well, I reached the start of the month for my Patreon page. That meant that my patrons would start to be charged for the completed works I made in September. Unfortunately, I made several errors in how I posted the rewards directly on the Patreon page. I thought that by setting a post to only be seen by a certain tier of user that it was only charging them. When I looked at my profits for the month, I realized that it was charging users for posts that I had set for other tiers.

As part of my reward set, I'm offering the art at different resolutions, up to 100% size. That's something I've not done before, unless for commissions. I felt so bad that the three patrons that I currently had were being over charged for my mistake. Naturally, I refunded them the proper amount. I then personally emailed all three the top tier of 100% sized image, even if they paid for the lower. Sort of my way to further apologize for my mess up.
Truth be told, I actually ended up over refunding. They were charged for one picture but got two for the rewards. I deserve that for my screw up.

Why in the bloody hell would the site charge everyone if I only set a post to be seen by a certain tier?

Because of this, I'm reworking how I distribute rewards. My patrons will be able to see my latest pieces a day before I post them on devArt, and I will email the rewards at the start of the month, after payments have been confirmed.

This would be easier if I did monthly charging. Maybe if I can increase my patrons, I'd feel more secure to switch over to monthly.

I've recently been very interested in starting a live stream of my artwork on Picarto.TV. I've seen a lot of artists that I really enjoy doing work on that site live. It's very educational. Some of you might remember a while back when my old computer kept getting the Blue Screen of Death and crashing. Unsurprisingly, I needed to get a new computer, but finances were tight at the time. I had to get something pretty simple. This thing still runs Windows Vista. (I really should just do that 10 upgrade.)

Today, I tried downloading OBS to start streaming. However, part way through the install it said I was missing DirectX components. This is currently only my assumption, but it appears my graphics card is too out of date. I had actually been meaning to upgrade my video card, for finally playing games on my PC; but put that on the back burner. Seems as if I will have to get that upgrade. If I'm going to upgrade, I might as well go for something good. On Steam, I saw the video card they recommended for playing Borderlands 2 (two birds, as they say). I think that was on Amazon for around $97. That's not counting if I'll need more memory or power source, as well. It's been a while since I opened my tower up. I do remember my brother saying this thing has a really great fan.

Here's the irony of this situation. I wanted to start doing a live stream to really promote my Patreon page and get more supporters, but I'd need more patrons on my Patreon to afford the upgrades quicker. I currently have three, one of which appears to be anonymous. I'm really putting a lot of work into these new pictures to show my appreciation for my patrons that are helping to support me. Just look to my latest image of Ashien as evidence of that.
