I got up early today to finish inking this picture so I could share it with you all. I normally don't show black and white works, but this came out pretty nice. I've shown the sketch. I thought it might be interesting to show this image along all the stages.
I seriously underestimated this image. Those piano keys were a killer to get right. Don't bother counting them. I'm short the requisite eighty-eight. I like that I have her pressing down on the keys. It makes her a part of the environment and not just in it.
There are some little touches in this picture. The white white she is drinking is a real wine. The music sheet title says, "Let's Make Music Together". Some of you should get that reference. It even plays back to her pressing on the keys. There are three X symbols on her person; on her belt, bustier, and choker. There are also two diamonds in her wine glass. Once colors I'm not sure how well that will appear though.
Looking at all this put together. It almost feels like this is a prelude to love making. Though that could be a personal bias. I was listening to a lot of romantic or heartwarming music while I was inking this to set a mood.

Emma Frost has always been one of my all time favorite Marvel characters. Ever since I started reading X-Men back in the early 1990s. I enjoy her character, but recent developments seem to be taking her to a dark side again. It's not known for sure just yet, but if they do I will never forgive the series.
Oddly enough, I was first inspired for this picture when I was watching the new animated series "Wolverine and the X-Men". When Emma premiered in the series we see her inside the new Xavier mansion, lounging at a grand piano. I thought it was an elegant setting and fit her perfectly.
My original idea was to have her sitting at the piano's bench, leaning back on the keys. I felt that was too similar to my Pansy picture.
I wasn't going for her uniform in this picture, but rather just something she's lounging around the house in and enjoying some wine. I tried thinking about what kind of wine the White Queen would drink. It hit me that of course it would be WHITE wine. I'm going to try and make it appear as if there are two diamonds in the glass for the final product, but I'm unsure how well this will come across.
I actually plan to make some more pictures of her. Maybe some drawings with her lover, Scott Summers.
